An Anderson University technician with the College of Health Professions is one of fewer than 300 people in the world to receive a Certified Healthcare Simulations Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification.
Jean Foltz, a simulation technician for Anderson University’s Center of Medical Simulationsand a graduate of AU, recently earned the certification to become one of only 262 people from 11 countries who have passed the CHSOS exam since May 2014.
“This certification strengthens AU’s Center of Medical Simulations, which is a very exciting thing the future of our program,” Foltz said. “It’s an absolute honor to be certified in an amazing field that I didn’t even know existed before I started my undergrad.”
Her certification required working in simulation for at least two years and taking an examination that consisted of concepts in healthcare and simulations; simulation modalities and technologies; healthcare simulation program, practices, processes and procedures; professional role development and implementation of instructional design and theory.
Foltz graduated from Anderson University in 2013, and she has since remained as a technician for the College of Health Professions.
“We in the College of Health Professions are so very proud of Ms. Foltz and her accomplishments,” said Dr. Donald Peace, Dean of the College of Health Professions. “She consistently provides quality care for our students while receiving their training in the simulations environment. The examination that she just completed is very intense and assures that she has competency with concepts needed to provide quality healthcare simulations to our students.”
Part of AU’s College of Health Professions, the Center for Medical Simulations is a simulated hospital located on campus, and is designed to provide a realistic clinical experience for students in nursing, human performance and physical therapy.
