When Hannah Sewell wanted to gain expertise through a teaching certification program, she turned to the College of Education at Anderson University. She was recently named the winner of a $1,000 scholarship from TeachSC, an organization that provides free support to anyone considering applying to a teacher preparation program.
Teaching K4 at a Christian school, Sewell has developed a passion for helping children learn and wants to continue advancing professionally as an educator.
“I’ve really just enjoyed being a part time preschool teacher and I wanted to take it up to the next level and get my certification and be able to teach in public school as well,” said Sewell, who is enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program.
“I would say for me it’s really exciting when I see a child that understands what’s being taught. I love to see them have a light bulb moment when they really get it. They have such joy in the smallest things. I am just teaching kids letters and numbers and they find so much excitement when they understand. They have so much fun learning, and I want to keep that fun element as they get older,” she said.
