Journey Ahead Update: Important Public Service Announcement

Please read the following for an important Journey Ahead update.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Over the next several days, you’ll be receiving important reminders directly from faculty, staff and your peers on the importance of strictly following our established Journey Ahead protocols.

Here’s what you can expect from these important public service announcements:

As you know, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in active COVID-19 cases over the last few weeks. For example, for the week of September 4 through September 10, there were 13 total cases. That number jumped to 47 the following week. As of the last COVID-19 Dashboard, we are reporting 36 total active cases. The Labor Day holiday, and off-campus social activities are the likely culprits for this rise.

Equally relevant is that because we experienced low rates of infection early in the semester, we are perhaps operating under a false sense of security–especially in our activities off-campus. Now, more than ever, we have to be vigilant. It is critical that we follow protocols off campus just as diligently as we practice them on campus.

You’ve heard all of this before, but it bears repeating:

  • Do not come to campus if you are sick, or suspect you’ve had contact with someone who is sick. This is essential! Call Thrive Wellness Center immediately at 864-622-6078.
  • On or off-campus, stay six feet away from others. Even if you are outside and wearing a mask, keep your distance.
  • Many students will tell you that despite the extraordinary hospitality extended by our student care staff, being in quarantine isn’t fun. You can avoid it by keeping your distance from others.
  • Wear a mask or face covering. Wear it indoors and, when others are present, wear it outdoors too. Wear it in your car if you’re sharing a ride with someone. It is a simple step, and it’s effective.
  • Show love for others. Be selfless at this critical moment

A large majority of our students are doing their part. We continue to be appreciative of your compliance. But–and this cannot be overstated–what you do off campus is just as important. Follow the protocols at all times, no matter where you are. Don’t relax when you leave campus.

Now is not the time for complacency. We’re all suffering from COVID fatigue. But let’s not let that put our friends at risk.

Care for yourself and others by following Journey Ahead protocols at all times.
