A total of 250 diplomas will be awarded during winter commencement ceremonies at the Henderson Auditorium at Anderson University Friday evening.

The 6pm graduation ceremony will feature an address from the Faculty Chair as is customary during winter graduation exercises.

Dr. Gordon Smith earned his B.A. from Wake Forest University, his M.B.A. from Virginia Tech, and his Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University.  While earning his Ph.D., he also obtained his teaching license in special education and math.  Dr. Smith has taught at Anderson University since 2008.  He teaches courses in economics, finance, and statistics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Along with being the largest number of graduates for a December commencement, this will also be the largest number of graduate degree recipients with 90 master’s degrees and 2 doctoral degrees (Doctor of Ministry) being conferred. 57 students will receive Master of Education degrees.

Friday’s commencement will also mark the first graduates from AU’s new RN to BSN program, which offers nurses the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science degree. There are 16 RN to BSN graduates in the first class.
