Joining tens of thousands of college students on more than 500 campuses across the country, Anderson University students will be holding a “Stand for Freedom” event on campus today.

Stand 27, sponsored by the International Justice Mission, asks those who are passionate about combating slavery to stand for 27 hours in honor of the 27 million people worldwide who are currently slaves or the victims of human trafficking.

The event takes place from March 5 to March 10 nationally. Anderson’s observance will begin at 8 pm today and conclude at 7 am on Wednesday, March 6, marking 27 hours in support of the world’s slaves. Anderson University’s Unveiled Club is spearheading the local effort.
