Anderson University this year was named an Apple Distinguished School for the fifth time, making it one of fewer than 60 colleges or universities worldwide to receive the prestigious distinction.
Anderson University first received the distinction in 2015, followed by subsequent designations in 2017, 2019, 2021 and again today.
All told, nearly 700 schools in 36 countries have received the distinction. Fewer than 10 percent are higher-education institutions.
Anderson University is one of only two colleges or universities in South Carolina named an Apple Distinguished School.
AU in 2010 committed itself to becoming a leader in using mobile technology to transform the teaching and learning experience. Its Digital Learning Initiative revolutionized student learning.
In 2013, Anderson created the South Carolina Center of Excellence for Mobile Learning through a grant awarded from the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education and funded by the Education Improvement Act. It led to a collaborative effort between AU and Apple that created a Coding and App Development minor; integrates iPad and Apple Pencils into select graduate programs; and launched the Trojan Textbook Program, which gives all residential students digital textbooks on the first day of classes.
The Center for Mobile Learning serves also as a statewide leader for training and professional development through its work with teacher preparation programs, K12 schools and teachers.
