Part Time Lecturer – Modern Dance

Anderson University (South Carolina) and the Department of Theatre and Dance seek instructors for upcoming adjunct position openings in Modern Dance technique.  Areas of immediate need are teaching Modern Dance techniques levels one through four.

Anderson University (South Carolina) and the Department of Theatre and Dance seek instructors for upcoming adjunct position openings in Modern Dance technique.  Areas of immediate need are teaching Modern Dance techniques levels one through four.

Preferred requirements:

  • Master’s degree, which includes 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline. 
  • Professionally trained modern dance teacher experienced in teaching early 20th century modern dance techniques to advanced and pre-professional level students.
  • Performance background with major Modern Dance company.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in both staging modern dance repertory and choreographing.
  • Additional teaching skills sought include one or more of the following: floor work, partnering, movement improvisation, movement composition and somatic practices.

Teaching experience at the college level preferred, but not required. A Bachelor’s degree and relevant industry experience considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Department Chair and Director of Dance, the Modern Dance teacher will advance the mission of the Anderson University’s South Carolina School of the Arts to identify and teach the University’s artistically talented pre-professional students through instruction in a supportive, faith-based environment of artistic and academic excellence.
  • Teaching load would consist of two days a week on campus in Anderson, SC.
