Director of Residence Life

Anderson University’s Office of Student Development invites applications for a full-time position as Director of Residence Life. Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive, Liberal Arts University affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The Director of Residence Life, collaborating with the Dean of Students, is a leadership role within the Student Development division of Anderson University and provides oversight for areas within Student Development that support students’ residential and co-curricular experience. This includes program development, housing management, policy development and evaluation, and assessment of effectiveness of all residence life programs and activities. The position also provides administrative oversight and leadership to the Residence Director staff and student Resident Advisors; directly supervises the Residence Director staff and the Associate Director of Residence Life. In addition, the Director plans and coordinates annual training, and is responsible for implementing the residence life mission and learning outcomes and ensuring an effective partnership with the academic mission of the University. A University-owned residence is provided for this live-in position.

This position is a full-time, 12-month position that requires knowledge equivalent to that gained through completion or near completion of a master’s degree in Student Development, Higher Education, or closely related field and five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in Residence Life. Experience working with an online housing management system and student information systems helpful. Proficient in Excel and basic understanding of billing processes. A strong commitment to quality relationships, warmth, excellence, and Christ-like service is essential. Must have a mature and contagious evangelical Christian faith. Commitment to the academic and Christ-focused mission of Anderson University is essential. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse student population and demonstrate a commitment to the holistic development of students. The ability to work in a professional and confidential manner with all staff, students, parents, and guests is essential.
