Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Information

Anderson University and the Athletics Department invite applications for a 12-month Assistant Athletic Director (AD) for Sports Information.  Anderson University is a comprehensive, liberal arts institution whose 400 athletes and 21 teams compete in the NCAA Division II, within the South Atlantic Conference. Anderson University is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and candidates with a strong Christian value system and lifestyle are encouraged to apply.

Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Information, the Assistant AD for Sports Information will assist with the publicity of the program’s 21 NCAA Div. II varsity teams and with event management. Additional duties include:

  • Working closely with selected teams to promote and publicize the athletics department as well as Anderson University;
  • Website management;
  • Writing press releases;
  • Responding to media inquiries and maintaining statistical and historical information;
  • Serving as the primary media contact for several sports and assisting with other sports as needed, providing media relations event and game-day management activities.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or a related field, and be familiar with StatCrew and NCAA Live Stats software. Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills with at least five years of experience preferred in either athletics communications or a journalism related field.  Applicants should be proficient in desktop publishing software (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.). Must be available to work significant night and weekend hours when necessary. Experience with football and lacrosse preferred.
