My research focus, which began twelve years ago with addressing the issue of access to higher education, has evolved to integrate elements of positive psychology, including self-determination, post-traumatic growth, hope, and most recently, revolutionary joy. I have found in my exploration of overcoming hardship, that joy is inextricably connected to resilience, growth, and change. I am currently knee-deep in the compilation of literature on joy and its ties to mental health, leadership, coaching, gender and racial equity, and self-actualization.
