Academic Background
Dr. Gordon Smith earned his B.A. from Wake Forest University, his M.B.A. from Virginia Tech, and his Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University. While earning his Ph.D., he also obtained his teaching license in special education and math. Dr. Smith has taught at Anderson University since 2008. He teaches courses in both economics and finance. In addition to teaching, Dr. Smith is the Director for the Center for Finance and Economics and the faculty sponsor for the Economics Honor Society.

I enjoy working with the students and encouraging them to expand their academic skills in areas that best fit their gifts and abilities.
Economics is a way of thinking about the world that can be applied to any activity engaged in by individuals, firms, or governments. There is nothing to which the simply tools of supply, demand, price and quantity cannot be applied.
