Fast Facts
I enjoy the Christian culture and interaction with the students. I left bedside nursing to pursue my passion for nursing education. I want to make a difference in the lives of our future nurses, not only through education but also through leadership. I was drawn to the mission and vision of a Christian university. As a believer in Christ, I wanted to be a part of a culture that accepted outward praises and openly spoke of Jesus.
No one understands how demanding the BSN curriculum is until you are in the thick of it. It is one of, if not the hardest, undergraduate degrees. It takes patience, sacrifice, prayer, and perseverance to make it through the program and overcome the NCLEX exam. The degree is not meant to be easy because nursing is not easy. The same grit it takes to overcome nursing school is the same grit it takes to be a nurse who exhibits competence, compassion, and empathy not only to patients but also to the patient’s family members and coworkers. Nursing is not a career to enter lightly or because it is a secure profession. Nursing is a calling.
I was a Sigma Theta Tau rising star of research and scholarship recipient from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in 2018. I also received the South Carolina Council of Deans & Directors of Nursing Education scholarship in 2020.
I enjoy several aspects of teaching at AU, but the most enjoyable is building lasting relationships with each student. I consider it the greatest reward to work alongside former students.
