Our Mission

Commuter engagement serves commuter students by aiding their connection to the AU community through educational programming, social events, and referrals to campus resources.

Our Objectives

Great Purpose

  • To create programming that supports commuter students in feeling a sense of belonging on Anderson University’s Campus
  • To learn about the barriers that hinder commuter students from being involved on campus

Great Hospitality

  • To eliminate barriers that commuter students have that keep them from being active on campus
  • To provide opportunities for commuters to get involved in campus events

Great Academics

  • Support students with academic concerns received through intentional outreach and through referral to campus resources such as The Center for Student Success

Great Faith

  • Identify ways to educate and connect students with Campus Ministry opportunities
  • Support students through a restorative student conduct process

Commuter Student Information

The Commuter Student Association is an intentional support network that seeks to build community among commuter students, support positive leadership development, and bring students together to serve their peers and the local community. CSA plans campus activities and represents commuter needs within the Student Government Association (SGA) to create a positive commuter experience. If you’re looking for a group of fellow commuters with whom you can build community, check out the Commuter Student Association page on AUnited and our Instagram for more details.

A week in the fall centered around connecting commuter students with the organizations and resources available to them on campus.

A week in the spring to celebrate commuter students. Includes events, programming, and giveaways to highlight how appreciated the Commuter student body is.

Once a month, our campus dining provider, AVI, generously provides commuter students with a delicious breakfast. Commuter Breakfasts are greatly appreciated by the commuter student body and are typically announced through the Commuter Student Association’s Instagram and by email to all commuters.

There are several dining locations on campus for the entire AU community to enjoy. Food can be purchased through a commuter student meal plan with AU Dining Services or through a personal bankcard.

All first year college students are required to park in the Athletic Campus parking lot. All commuting students who are not first year students (excluding high school dual enrollment) may park in any white parking spaces on campus. Download the BusWhere App to schedule and monitor the AU Transits, so you know how close the transit is to your location.

Student Activities hosts over 100 events throughout the school year that are designed to bring the AU community together and create memories that will last far beyond a student’s college career. Learn more

Many commuter students join an AU-chartered club or organization, particularly the academic and pre-professional organizations that are dedicated to success in the classroom, internships, and career exploration. With over 40 student groups on campus, there are countless ways for you to get involved. Whether you want to take a leadership position, volunteer for a cause, build your faith, or just have fun, there is something for everyone! Campus Ministries is committed to helping all students connect their faith with every other area of learning.
