Course Title: IS 398 Croatia, Italy & Slovenia: Health and Culinary Studies from the Heart of the Mediterranean
Course Description: This course will introduce students to health care aspects and food customs and practices of Croatia, Italy and Slovenia, which are all southern European countries. This class will cover the diverse history of health care, culture, culinary arts and economic growth over the centuries. Not only will students learn about the diverse history of these countries, but also about the local food and health care systems that link these three Mediterranean countries, as well as things that separate them and give them their uniqueness.

Housing/Accommodations: Local hostel
General Travel Itinerary: Study of health care and culinary aspects of Croatia, along with a visit to the neighboring countries of Italy and Slovenia, in order to contrast the close regions’ cultures.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must be eligible juniors or seniors (at least a 2.5 GPA) who have not attended a previous AU Abroad program.
Scholarship: Scholarships are awarded to reduce the cost for travel, which is an additional fee from tuition and fees and charged as part of student’s registration for program. To be eligible for the AU Abroad scholarship of up to $1,000.00, students must either be a junior or senior. Scholarship amount depends upon GPA, class standing and financial need. (Sophomores nursing students are also eligible for AU Abroad scholarships.)
