Choral Ensembles

Anderson University’s choirs create musical experiences that challenge and nurture students, inspire audiences, and enhance the life of the community.A variety of music, from great choral masterworks to the best of contemporary choral music, meets the needs of our diverse musical community.

Our choirs include:

Joining a choir

All AU students may participate in any choir for which they are qualified.University choir is open to all; just sign up. Women’s Choir and Concert Choir membership is by audition. A limited number of choir members receive choral scholarships.

Current students may contact the directors of groups they would like to join for information and audition requirements. Email links for directors are on each choir’s page.

Prospective students interested in a choral scholarship or in participating in an advanced group normally attend one of AU’s Music Audition Days the year before they register as a student.  If necessary, applicants may arrange an individual audition time by contacting Dr. Richard A. Williamson at rwilliamson@andersonuniversity.edu

Credit for music and non-music majors

Music ensembles are participation classes that count toward graduation (1-hour laboratory courses). Non-music majors can meet a general education requirement by completing 3 semesters of an approved ensemble. They can apply additional ensemble credits toward elective hours. Participation in University Choir, Women’s Choir, or Concert Choir as assigned fulfills the primary ensemble requirement for music majors, music minors, and others who are required to participate in a choir. Participation in other groups fulfills the secondary ensemble requirement for any music major.
