How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?

Engaging and challenging! I consider my voice lessons an exploration in movement and sound effects! I love watching students discover or refine a new concept in singing – the “a-ha!” moment! I also infuse the lesson with humor! Laughing is good for the soul and good for the voice! Whether the classroom or the voice studio, I challenge the students to think outside the box, and “rethink” some of their ideas about the voice. When they reply something is “weird”, I say “GREAT!”. Weird is good – that means you’re sensing and trying something new!

I teach Applied voice in all majors including Vocal Performance, Worship, Commercial Music, and Musical Theater majors; Vocal Pedagogy 1 and 2; Vocal Pedagogy for Instrumental Majors, and Class Voice for Non-Majors.

I feel called to teach voice, and I love what I do! I am blessed to guide singers to help them discover, develop, and maintain their authentic voice and to avoid vocal injury to be the best steward of their God-given gift! I am an active Member of the Association for Body Mapping Education (ABME), working to be a licensed Body Mapping Educator to help students find more freedom as they sing by understanding how they move! I have has also studied as a singing voice specialist to aid students in singing rehabilitation. I want my students to draw upon their innate sense of creativity given to them by their Creator be fully explore their artistry.  In performance, I encourage them to allow the Light to shine through them, that they will may bring beauty and joy into a world that desperately needs it.

My voice students have consistently earned honors at the state, regional and national level at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Auditions (NATS) in classical, music theater, and commercial music categories. Most recently, one of my students won 2nd place at the National Level in her Commercial Music Category.
