Academic Background

Marion is proud to have adopted and raised three children who “know and love God.”
He points out that while the fire service has been around for more than 200 years, it has seen very little academic study or research.
“With the recent availability of federal grant funds, the fire service is finally conducting research in a way that will change strategies and tactics for current and future firefighters, who will better understand the dynamics of the job and perform in a safer manner.”

Doctor of Philosophy in Fire and Emergency Management Administration, Oklahoma State University

M.S in Executive Fire Service Leadership, Grand Canyon University

Bachelor of Professional Studies in Fire Administration and Fire Prevention, University of Memphis

Safety Management, Strategic Planning, Technology in Emergency Services

The faculty and staff are extremely friendly and have a desire to help. I have a passion for higher education, particularly as a fire and emergency management practitioner. This field has been predominately neglected and typically viewed as a blue-collar, on-the-job-training profession with no immediate need for in-depth education. Being able to combine this with the practice of my faith without fear of negative consequences is liberating.
