What year did you start teacing at AU?

2012

How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?

My classes provide teacher candidates with opportunities to work with students in public schools. At these sites, candidates practice strategies and receive constructive feedback to improve their teaching. These field labs provide them with the confidence to know that they have the skills needed to teach children with learning disabilities and (children) at-risk effectively.

The freedom to share my faith in Jesus with my students. Training current and future public school educators who find their strength and passion in God is extremely rewarding. These educators know that God places them with the exact students for whom He chose. It is very rewarding to watch these candidates continue to grow in their faith and pedagogical skills as God sustains their passions for teaching through the variety of ways that He meets their needs and the needs of their students. I am honored to get to be a very small part of their teaching story.

I wish that more people understood that students with learning disabilities and at-risk can be successful in school when taught using evidence-based strategies that match their learning needs.
