The Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (TBSN) trains traditional college-age students to become nurses who can work in pediatric, surgical, adult, geriatric, and other fields of nursing. It prepares undergraduates to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) and become a registered nurse (RN). RNs serve in hospitals, hospices, homes, nursing homes, workplaces, schools, medical missions, the military, and other medical settings. The Institute of Medicine recommends increasing the proportion of nurses with bachelor’s degrees from 50 percent to 80 percent by 2020. This bachelor’s program will launch your nursing career, open the door to leadership and management positions, and qualify you for graduate-level training in nursing and healthcare.

TBSN Admission Requirements
- Traditional undergraduate application
- SAT > 1100 (> 500 math) or ACT > 21 (> 19 math)

TBSN Academic Progress Requirements
- Achievement of a minimum GPA of 3.0 for liberal arts courses through your fourth semester.
- Achievement of a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all science courses, including Anderson’s four pre-nursing science courses:
- CHE 107 Essentials of General, Organic & Biochemistry
- BIO 201 Human Anatomy & Physiology I
- BIO 202 Human Anatomy & Physiology II
- BIO 215 Fundamentals of Microbiology
Other Progress Requirements
By February 15 of your fourth semester
- To be eligible for selection, an “intent to enroll” form submitted to the School of Nursing stating your intention to continue pursuing the nursing major
Before the start of your fifth semester
- Clear, urine drug test
- Negative background check
- Record of the following immunizations:
- Hepatitis B titer or immunization
- Documented tetanus within last 10 years
- Flu vaccine
- Rubella titer or immunization (measles)
- TB skin test
- Meningitis
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
- Varicella titer or immunization (chicken pox)
- Evidence of Professional Liability Insurance Policy
- Evidence of health insurance
- American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification
