Anderson University is launching a new online Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership degree program designed for working professionals seeking advancement in the business, government, ministry and non-profit sectors. The program is economical and can be completed in a little more than two years.

The program is designed to prepare working professionals to understand the complexities and challenges of driving change within organizations with the purpose of leading and creating transformative organizations and communities. Enrollment is now open for the fall 2020 semester.

“Anderson University is pleased to offer this innovative new research-based program and help develop leadership skills for working professionals across our region,” said Anderson University President Evans P. Whitaker, Ph.D. “Having competent, prepared men and women who deeply understand organizational science and change leadership is sorely needed in today’s workforce, and there are few institutions better suited to providing it than Anderson University.”

The interdisciplinary program, offered entirely online, provides students with opportunities to engage in scholarship and research while developing professional competencies. The program provides two distinct pathways for candidates’ own goals and research interests in business and ministry.

The Ph.D. in Leadership, Business concentration enables students to advance as scholars and leaders in for-profit and non-profit environments. Prepared to accept high-level positions, graduates of the online PhD in Leadership will be able to implement and create leadership models that assist organizations in meeting their goals and objectives.

This degree will provide students with career pathways as corporate strategists, leadership consultants or executive leaders. The program will prepare and enable graduates to address the leadership challenges of today and tomorrow.

“In today’s complex work environment, the most needed competency is positive, effective leadership,” said Steve Nail dean of the Anderson University College of Business. “Most workplace issues including turnover, lack of engagement, unethical conduct and employment-related legal issues are directly related to poor organizational leadership. Anderson University’s new Ph.D. in Leadership will help equip individuals in training and development, human resources, career development, strategic leadership and business consulting roles, among others, to guide organizational leadership enhancement efforts.”

The PhD in Leadership, Christian Ministry concentration will equip individuals for the highest level of scholarship and performance in leading churches, denominational agencies, educational institutions or ministry organizations.

Students may build or advance their careers as pastors, professors, researchers, organizational leaders, strategists or leadership consultants. The program equips its graduates with the knowledge and methodological tools to conduct research on the pressing ministry leadership issues of the day.

“The Ph.D. in Leadership at Anderson University will provide an outstanding opportunity for ministry leaders to advance their own preparation for strategic leadership in the churches and ministry organizations of the 21st century,” said Dr. Michael Duduit, dean of the Anderson University College of Christian Studies and Clamp Divinity School. “The program has been designed to allow students to earn a Ph.D. without the need to leave their own ministry setting, and to do so in a way that is time-efficient and affordable.”
