Anderson University is launching a new Doctor of Education in Leadership and Learning (EdD) degree program designed to prepare working professionals to lead, teach, and consult in the public and private sectors.

“Across many years, the College of Education has established a strong reputation of excellence in teacher preparation,” said Dr. Mark Butler, dean of the Anderson University College of Education. We are motivated and delighted to build upon that foundation as we launch our Doctorate of Education, which will focus on equipping people to do the important work of leadership across the many facets of education.  We are particularly excited to be able to offer this program utilizing an embedded dissertation model, which we believe will serve students well and set them up for success with a clear path to their doctoral degree.”

This degree will offer two concentrations in School and Community Leadership and Curriculum and Instructional Leadership. The Hyflex program format offers the option for in-person learning at the University Center of Greenville or a fully online experience. As part of AU’s commitment to digital learning and innovation, students in the program will receive an iPad technology package and have access to array resources as they lead and design the future of educational environments.

“We are excited to introduce the EdD in Leadership and Learning as the newest doctoral program at Anderson University,” said Dr. Julie Smart, director of Doctorate in Education Program (EdD). Housed in the College of Education, this program is designed to equip leaders in the field of education with the tools they need to develop innovative learning environments, support instructional excellence, and facilitate critical change in schools and communities. Doctoral students will conduct research focused on current, relevant topics in educational leadership with the goal of developing practical, solution-oriented applications. Our graduates will be prepared to lead transformative action initiatives in a broad range of educational settings and equipped to provide effective leadership for contemporary issues in education.
