Anderson University has entered into a partnership with London’s Spurgeon’s College – the largest Baptist college in the United Kingdom – to support short-term study trips, student and faculty exchange programs, and other joint projects.

Anderson University College of Christian Studies Spurgeon's CollegeThe partnership is the first for the Anderson University College of Christian Studies and Clamp Divinity School, and currently the only American partnership for Spurgeon’s College. The agreement was signed by Philip McCormack, principal (president) of Spurgeon’s College, and Dr. Ryan Neal, provost of Anderson University.

“London is an ideal setting for the next generation of ministry leaders to learn about sharing the gospel in a cross-cultural setting,” said Dr. Michael Duduit, dean of the Clamp Divinity School. “Because Spurgeon’s College shares our own commitment to equipping ministers in a theologically conservative environment, it is an excellent partner for us.”

The London college was founded by Charles Haddon Spurgeon in 1856 as The Preacher’s College. Spurgeon was pastor of Metropolitan Tabernacle, then one of the largest congregations in the world. The school was renamed for its founder in 1923, and currently enrolls more than 800 students from the UK and around the world.

The College of Christian Studies and Clamp Divinity School at Anderson University are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. The college offers ministry degrees at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels.

“Anderson University is now South Carolina’s largest private university and has an increasingly global footprint,” Dr. Neal said. “We are excited to enter into this partnership with a quality sister institution in the UK, and look forward to many opportunities for joint programs that will serve students of both institutions.”
