Summer Repertory Theatre

Summer Repertory Theatre

AU Rep auditions will be held May 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm.  This is a program designed for grades 9-12.  To schedule an audition, please contact Robert Homer-Drummond at rhomer-drummond@andersonuniversity.edu or 864-328-1419.  This year’s season includes The Jungle Book based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling and Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare.

For the past five years, Theatre majors in The South Carolina School of the Arts have joined forces with area high school actors to share theatre with the community through the Summer Repertory Theatre. Local high school actors participate in a three-week long workshop that culminates with the staging of two plays. The "AU Rep" as it is called, is part of the larger "Anderson Theatre Festival." Last year more than twenty area high school students mentored by six AU Theatre majors worked to produce Treasure Island based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson and The Two Gentlemen of Verona by William Shakespeare in rolling repertory.  The workshop, which is heavily subsidized by Anderson University, is inexpensive and offers an hour of college credit.  Scholarships are available upon request.

Past productions have included The Tempest, Alice and A Midsummer Night’s Dream among others. Tickets become available in June and can be purchased for $10 at the AU Box Office at 864-231-2125 or online.
