Anderson University (South Carolina) and the Thrift Library invite applications for a full-time, 12-month administrative faculty member with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning as Research and Instruction Librarian. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing research and instruction services to students, faculty, and staff, primarily in the natural and behavioral sciences and health professions subject areas. This position starts August 1, 2023. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. Candidates must share Christian beliefs and values that are compatible with those of Anderson University and support its mission.

Qualified candidates must have completed a master’s degree in library and information science, or equivalent.

The Research and Instruction Librarian is expected to:

• Actively engage with faculty and students to understand their research and instruction needs, build collaborations, and promote library services.
• Provide general and subject-specific information, research, and reference services to students, faculty, and staff.
• Plan, teach, and assess instruction in collaboration with faculty and other librarians.
• Participate in collection development of print and digital resources.
• Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments; create and maintain related subject guides.
• Locate, create, organize, and maintain digital content to support academic instruction.
• Develop expertise in the technology and tools used in academic research.
• Develop expected learning outcomes for instruction sessions that align with the University's mission and instructional goals and professional standards.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment to develop library collections and promote library resources and services to the University community.
• Maintain familiarity with scholarly communications for teaching, learning, and research.
• Create and maintain research guides as needed.
• Participate in professional development for the purpose of continuing education and contributing to the profession.
• Actively demonstrate leadership by participating in professional responsibilities that serve the Thrift Library, Anderson University, the profession, and the community.

The successful candidate will join a collegial team of six full-time professional librarians and three part-time library assistants.
