Director of Student Support and Commuter Engagement

Anderson University’s Office of Student Development invites applications for a full-time position as Director of Student Support and Commuter Engagement. Primary Function

The Director of Student Support and Commuter Engagement will provide key leadership in developing programs and activities that promote students’ success at Anderson University. The Director will support the student experience by serving as a student conduct officer and member of the CARE team and is responsible for commuter student programming.

Essential Functions

The Director of Student Support and Commuter Engagement will respond student conduct violations as assigned by the Dean of Students or Associate Dean by meeting with students involved and providing the appropriate response and follow up.

The Director will oversee the conduct process for commuter students, investigate Title IX related incidents, assist with the creation of a restorative, learning centered, sanctioning process, and maintain accurate student records, updating processes within the student conduct database and Student Handbook.    

The Director of Student Support and Commuter Engagement will work with the Associate Dean to provide a network of support for students who are experiencing difficulties. This will include serving as a member of the Care Team as a case manager for commuter students and higher-level concerns by conducting weekly review of all CARE cases ensuring proper follow-up, providing current on and off campus resource guides for both students and managers.

The Director will serve as an advisor to the Commuter Student Association (CSA) and the Commuter Engagement Team, planning and implementing programs and events that help commuter students stay connected and engaged in the campus community.

The Director will serve on the Administrator On Call Team rotation and provide support during on-campus emergencies. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to maintain daily operation within the Student Development Office.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Knowledge equivalent to that gained through completion of a master’s degree in Student Development, Student Affairs, and 3-6 years of progressive work experience in Higher Education or a similar field is required. Demonstrated understanding and experience with adjudicating student conduct cases is preferred.  Ability to lead and develop teams, organize, and communicate effectively.  Commitment to the academic and Christ-centered mission of Anderson University is required. Must be able to work with a diverse student population and demonstrate a commitment to the holistic development of students. The ability to work in a professional and confidential manner with all staff, students, parents, and the community is essential.
