The South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University cordially invites applications for a professional-track, nine-month instructional position in the area of Acting and Directing at the rank of assistant professor. The preferred start date for the position is Fall 2024. Exceptionally well qualified candidates with teaching and industry experience will be considered for appointment at an advanced rank (associate or full professor).

The successful candidate will demonstrate significant expertise in Acting and Directing.  Duties of the position include teaching multi-level undergraduate courses in performance, script and character analysis, and the business of theatre; mentoring and advising undergraduates; and directing at least one main stage production per academic year.  There is also the potential for vocal/dialect coaching and theatrical intimacy direction for the mainstage.  The department encourages applicants with training specializations (Stanislavski, Hagen, Meisner, Chekhov) and proven success instructing students in period style performance. 

Preferred qualifications include the ability to teach Voice and Movement courses focused in the specializations of Laban, Linklater, Bogart, and/or Suzuki; Alexander Technique; Dialects; and Theatrical Intimacy. 

The successful candidate will have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) completed by the date of hire and will demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence, artistic practice, and an active profile in the field.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
