Dean – College of Education

Anderson University and the College of Education invite applications for a full-time, twelve-month position as Dean the College of Education at the Associate/Full Professor Rank. The College of Education enrolls 500+ students, employs 14 full-time faculty members, and is supported by 7 full-time staff members, in addition to part-time faculty and staff members. The College of Education offers initial program options at the undergraduate and graduate level, along with multiple master’s level programs, and a terminal Ed.D. program.  Graduate programs are offered on-campus at the University Center of Greenville in both hyflex and online modalities. Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. This full-time position requires an earned terminal degree in a field of education (Ph.D.or Ed.D.) and relevant experience in higher education and program administration. The preferred candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience with faculty development, budget oversight, a record of successful teaching in P-12 and Higher Education, an awareness of local, state, and national trends in education, along with extensive professional experience and an interest in serving the profession. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in higher education leadership, P-12 experience, and a sufficient level of scholarship to warrant a faculty rank at Associate/Full professor status. The ideal candidate can also develop curriculum, support post-graduate student scholarship, and provide leadership in the development of new programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commitment to work in a collaborative and cooperative manner in support of the mission, vision, and values of Anderson University.
  • Serves as member of Provost’s Cabinet and Internal Planning Group.
  • Lead development of the College’s curriculum, field experiences, and technological and library resources.
  • Recruit, develop, and evaluate both faculty and staff.
  • Partner, support, and assist the Office of Enrollment Management in admission and recruitment efforts to ensure enrollment growth.
  • Develop and monitor the College’s budget.
  • Oversee national accreditation (i.e., CAEP) and Specialty Program Assessment (SPA) processes.
  • Serve as a liaison between the SCDE and the College by attending state meetings, completing institutional reports, and preparing for on-site visits.
  • Represent Anderson University/COE across other relevant state level organizations.
  • Prepare the annual course schedule, assign teaching loads, and plan for adjunct instructors, as needed.
  • Lead College of Education meetings.
  • Facilitate updating the department handbooks and college catalog, as needed.
  • Prepare departmental assessment reports.

Additional Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all certification programs meet their licensure standards.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with school districts, principals, and cooperating teachers to allow for meaningful field experiences.
  • Chair of the Teacher Education Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with Title II reporting
  • Track and evaluate program satisfaction, program outcomes, and program reporting requirements.
  • Provide leadership in implementing program goals and objectives.
