Why teach at AU?

The faculty at Anderson University are accomplished performers, composers, researchers, and educators. The Music Department offers students the freedom to pursue a wide range of interests and acquire diverse skills that will serve them well throughout their careers. Teaching in the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University gives me the opportunity to share my musical experience and my faith with our students and to help guide them in their performance and academic pursuits.

Hobbies

My wife Tanya, and our two boys, Joe and Julian have been enjoying our new hobby of mountain biking. We also enjoy traveling, hiking, and rock climbing. The family also enjoys attending live music concerts and other performing arts events. I also enjoy the digital New York Times crossword puzzles.

Notable achievements outside of discipline

My wife and I climbed mount Kenya with a youth group. We also took a youth group to Egypt and Nairobi on separate occasions which was an amazing experience.

The students. AU has such an amazing group of talented students who are pursuing their dreams in a variety of disciplines.

What I wish prospectives students knew about my discipline or careers in my discipline.

Music is a diverse field with so many paths that you can take throughout your journey. Students at Anderson University can pursue studies in commercial music, music education, musical theater, worship music, performance and much more! We are committed to allowing students to choose their path and to give them the tools they need to successfully follow it.

How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?

Highly interactive. I enjoy a dialogue with the students and seek to give them the tools to explore the topics they are interested in.
