Human Services and Health Care Administration

I began teaching at Anderson University as an Adjunct Professor in 2009 through 2012. Then came full time in 2015 as Assistant Professor and Program Chair of Human Services. I became the Dean for the College of Health Professions in 2016.

What an incredible opportunity to be connected to an awesome team of professionals. Being at Anderson University provided me an opportunity to working at a Christian university. This gives me an incredible opportunity to work in an environment where the basics and fundamentals of God's command is focused (Col. 3:17). The ability to teach allows me the opportunity to provide my Christian faith into the helping profession of health and human services. Jesus is the ultimate teacher and healer and I want to follow his example. Working at Anderson University provides me the perfect opportunity to serve Jesus, students and our faculty.

My family (incredible wife, four children and six grandchildren). I am a huge bluegrass music fan. I am an avid reader (love John Grisham novels and have read them all). My wife and I love to travel (spending our children’s inheritance now). I enjoy conducting research especially focused on hospital acquired infections.

I am a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. I served as President of the South Carolina Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives until 2018. I now serve the Board of Directors as immediate past president until 2020. I also serve on the Anderson County United Way Board of Directors. My term began in 2017.

I have served with medical missions to Nepal, Thailand, and the Republic of Moldova. I've had the opportunity to see Mt. Everest in my travels to Nepal.

Working with faculty, staff and students. They are awesome! Students are very respectful and have a tremendous desire to learn. I find there is some very special about an Anderson University student.

The importance of good communications skills are a must. Working with people in need requires patience, skills and the ability to have insight to their unspoken needs as much as their spoken needs. All health and human services programs share this same measure of concern.

Focused on the insight of the human condition and how we can move people to the next level of self-sufficiency and independent. Our desire is that persons become less reliant on the social infrastructure. Our health care administration classes are focused on teaching persons to have excellence as future leaders in healthcare.
