Andrea N. Raines
Andrea is beginning a new journey to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Educational Leadership with American Sentinel University. She has participated in several mission trips, including nursing missions to Nicaragua and South Africa.
“Nursing is not just a job. It is a mission field. It is a privilege to reach others through the caring and knowledge Christ has given me.”
Andrea believes her ability to care for patients is a gift from God. “I like holistic nursing and the idea of helping patients to find wellness physically, emotionally and spiritually. For me, I do not want nursing to become a job where I am concerned with the amount of money I am making. I want it to remain my way to reach others, with the love and compassion God has given me.”
What classes do you teach at Anderson
Mental health and online courses for the RN to BSN program
What year did you start teaching at AU
Why teach at AU?
Teaching nursing full time at a Christian organization will give me the opportunity to share my faith with the students that I work with. The ability to openly share my faith with my students is probably my favorite part of being a professor at Anderson University. Watching my students go to the clinical sites and share their faith with patients is a privilege and joy!
I am an active member of New Spring church and enjoy different mission opportunities throughout the year.

am a very busy wife and mother. Spending time with my family brings me great joy and happiness.
How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?
My classes are fun and energetic. While the material we learn is heavy in content I strive to make my class an active learning environment. It is very important for my students to learn from my experiences as a nurse and begin to develop the nursing process they will use in their practice.
