She wishes prospective students knew that to be successful in human resources, it’s “absolutely essential that you are competent in problem-solving, presenting, writing, researching, and formulating business strategies. Learn all areas of the organization where you want to work and strongly consider a double concentration in business.”

Why teach at AU?
I pursued a career in Christian higher education because of my strong desire to teach at a Christian university to integrate my faith in Jesus Christ into instruction as well as outside of the walls of the classroom. My instructional practices are grounded in the belief that students in higher education are forming and solidifying their world views, which will guide their decisions for years to come. It is my desire for students to establish a rock-solid foundation in Christ as they prepare to enter the workplace filled with conflicting values.

How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?
I expect students to make class contributions to demonstrate their out-of-class preparation and absorption of course material. My teaching approach uses a combination of lecture, case study, student-led presentations, simulations, demonstrations, and group discussions. Outside speakers may be called upon, on occasion, to share knowledge on specialized topics.
