Theatre - Acting

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Acting is designed to offer students an overview of the theory and practice required to pursue acting as a profession, and/or to prepare them for further study at the graduate level. Students are introduced to playwrights that span the theatrical cannon and are encouraged to develop a facility for the language and sensibilities of multiple time periods. In addition, students are given the opportunity to explore and incorporate the acting techniques of Constantin Stanislavksi, Uta Hagen, Sanford Meisner, Viola Spolin and Michael Chekhov among others. The concentration is intended to release and nurture the creative spirit in the individual theatre-artist through improvisation, intellectual stimulation and faculty mentorship.
