Admission Requirements

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN)  program starts once a year in August. Applications are due each year on December 15. Prerequisites do not have to be completed by the application deadline, but by the start of classes in August. 

Admission Requirements

  • Complete Online ABSN Application
  • Pay $40 application fee
  • Submit Two Letters of Recommendation completed by a professor/teacher, employer, or pastor. Click here to submit letters
  • Completion of a TEAS exam (ATI) and a score of 60. The TEAS may be taken a maximum of two (2) times to achieve this score.
  • Submit official transcripts of all college coursework from all institutions you’ve attended (including transcripts from classes you may be taking now).  Those can be submitted electronically to dataentry@andersonuniversity.edu or via mail to the following address:

  • Achievement of a minimum GPA of 3.0 in your last 59 credit hours of coursework
  • Personal interview with the admission committee of the School of Nursing, if requested
  • Completion of all required General Education prerequisites (see below)

Completion of the four science courses below within the last five years and achievement of a minimum 3.0 GPA in these classes:

  • CHE 107 Essentials of General, Organic, and Biochemistry (4 credits)
  • BIO 201 Human Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credits)
  • BIO 202 Human Anatomy & Physiology II (4 credits)
  • BIO 215 Fundamentals of Microbiology (4 credits)

*There may only be a one-time repeat of any of the four science courses.
 
Completion of the two following math and psychology courses:

  • MAT 108 Finite Probability and Statistics (3 credits)
  • PSY 205 Human Development (3 credits)

Completion of the two following Christian Studies courses:

  • CHR 105 Introduction to the Bible (3 credits)
  • CHR 305 Christian Worldview and Contemporary Application or PHI 210: Philosophical Foundations and Moral Reasoning (3 credits)

Completion of the following General Education courses:

  • BIO 140/141 – Introduction to Cell Biology and Lab (4 credits)
  • PSY 101 – Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)
  • Communication Requirement – English Composition and Speech I (3 credits)
  • Communications Options – English 102, Public Speaking or Interpersonal Communications (3 credits)
  • Humanities and Cultural Inquiry (6 credits)
    • Mod. Lang. (SPA, FRE, POR, ASL, etc.), Communications, History, Philosophy, Ethics, Archeology, Comparative/World Religion , Geography, Literature, Art/Art History, Music/Music History, Theatre/Theatre History
  • Core Electives (3 credits)
    • Any Humanities and Cultural inquiry course, Social Science (Economics, Hum. Devel. & Fam. Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology), Science or Christian Studies course
  • General Electives – any general elective course (9 credits)

If accepted into the ABSN program the following information is due prior to the start of the program in August:

  • Clear, urine drug test
  • Negative background check
  • Record of the following immunizations:
    • Hepatitis B titer or immunization
    • Documented tetanus within last 10 years
    • Flu vaccine
    • Rubella titer or immunization (measles)
    • TB skin test
    • Meningitis
    • Pertussis (whooping cough)
    • Varicella titer or immunization (chicken pox)
  • Evidence of health insurance (required after acceptance to the program)
  • Evidence of Professional Liability Insurance Policy
  • American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification
