Housing Registration For New Students

Step 1. Pay your Enrollment Deposit

You may only sign up for housing after you have paid your enrollment deposit. Please contact your admission counselor to complete this step. We give preference to students who deposit prior to May 1, so get your deposit in as soon as possible.

Step 2. Complete the AU Housing Application

  • Housing Portal: Your Housing Portal will allow you to access the Housing Application and other important housing and dining information. You will need your AU email username and password to be able to log in to the Housing Portal. Once you log in, click on the applications tab at the top of the page and follow the link to the New Student Housing Agreement. Please keep the My Housing page bookmarked on your computer because you may need to access the page again to make changes to your application. You will also be able to view your housing assignment and roommate contact information here after assignments are completed. If you are unsure about your login information, please contact your admissions counselor.

Log in to your Housing Portal

  • Roommate Matching: If you have already decided on a roommate, find the Room Selection tab at the top of the My Housing page and click on Roommate/Suitemate. Enter your roommate’s name in the search boxes and select that person from the list of students that comes up. Your roommate must have a completed Housing Application on file to appear on this list. If there are multiple students with the same name, we suggest that you contact your roommate to make sure you are selecting the right name. Please remember that we only honor mutual roommate requests, so your prospective roommate will also need to select you. If you submit your deposit and complete your Housing Application by May 1, we will guarantee your roommate request.

If you do not have a roommate in mind, please complete your personal roommate profile. Your profile, along with the preferences you indicated on your housing application, will be visible to other incoming AU students who are looking for a roommate. You can find your personal roommate profile under the Personal Information tab at the top of the My Housing page. Once you have completed your profile, you may begin to search for a roommate by viewing other student’s profiles. To view other student’s profiles, find the Room Selection tab at the top of the My Housing page and click on Roommate/Suitemate. Go to the Advanced Roommate search and click on Begin Search. Browse through the list of student profiles. If you find a student that you are interested in rooming with, click on Request This Student.

  • Housing Assignments: Please indicate on your application the building in which you would prefer to live. You will notice that there are only certain buildings open for first year students. If you want more information about each building, you can find floor plans and pictures in the Residence Hall section of the Residence Life website. Although we cannot make any guarantees, we will do our best to place you in one of your top choices.

  • Vehicle Registration: If you are planning to bring a car to campus, please complete the vehicle registration section. This will expedite the process of registering your car and purchasing a parking permit. If you don’t have all of your vehicle information available, you can always go back and update this section later.

What’s Next?

Once we receive your online Housing Agreement, we will begin the process of determining your room assignment. Room and roommate selections are prioritized according to when you submitted your Enrollment Deposit with the University. If you paid your deposit by May 1, you should receive housing assignments and roommate contact information by July 15.

We look forward to having you join our on-campus housing community! If you have any questions, please feel free to visit our Frequently Asked Questions page or contact the Residence Life Office.
